Archivist
Can give advice on storing your precious memorabilia and documents.
Historian
Can give advice on correct period framing for your old photographs and artwork. And can often date your old photographs by identifying the process of or tracking down the period of operation of the photographic studio.
Applied Scientist
Can identify the nature of the item you have to be framed in order to recommend the best type of material to use to conserve your artwork. The wrong type of backing board (which you won't see) can slowly and insidiously deteriorate your artwork.

Instructor
A good picture framer should also be able to instruct you in the hanging and care of your picture frames.
